Is data residency available for Atlassian Marketplace apps? Copy link to heading Copied! Show +

Yes, data residency is available for some apps. You can find out if an app offers data residency by:

  • reviewing the Privacy & Security tab or privacy policy on the app’s listing on Atlassian Marketplace
  • reaching out to the Marketplace Partner directly
  • checking the data residency tab on admin.atlassian.com. This feature is currently in beta for self service data residency customers, who can both see which apps are eligible to migrate data, and schedule migration of app data to supported realms.

Marketplace Partners whose apps store data outside of Atlassian are able to pin app data or migrate data between realms. Partners may or may not choose to invest in data residency depending on a few factors, including:

  • Customer demand: Marketplace Partners may not choose to invest in Data Residency if they do not see enough demand from customers. If you would like to install an app but see that the app does not meet your data residency requirements, reach out to the Marketplace Partner to let them know.
  • App does not store in-scope data outside of Atlassian: Some apps do not need to pin or migrate data because they do not store any in-scope data, or store data only within the parent product (Jira or Confluence). For more information on what data is "in-scope" for an app, see the app's Privacy & Security tab.
Will enabling data residency make my Jira or Confluence performance faster? Copy link to heading Copied! Show +

No, Atlassian uses our global infrastructure presence to host data as close to customers as possible in order to achieve maximum performance. While data residency provides an additional level of certainty that data will not leave a specific geographic area, our cloud infrastructure is designed to give global customers the best possible experience. Enabling data residency may lead to slower overall performance for users located outside of the designated geographic area. Learn more about our global cloud infrastructure.
